Born into a musical family from Ohio, Dominic began taking classical piano lessons when he was eight years old, and took up the alto saxophone two years later. Influenced by jazz legends including John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Cannonball Adderley, and countless others, he decided to strive for a career in music. He received a Bachelor’s degree in jazz performance at The Ohio State University, and a Master’s degree from Western Michigan University. In order to fund a relocation to Brooklyn, he auditioned to perform for a cruise ship, and ended up playing on Royal Caribbean’s Radiance of the Seas for six months. Upon moving to New York, he immersed himself in the jam session scene, and has performed at notable venues including Smalls, Ornithology, Birdland, The Jazz Gallery, Chris’ Jazz Cafe (Philly), and The Jazz Showcase (Chicago). He has also had original musical works performed and recorded by The W.D. Packard Bigband (Youngstown) and the Greg Ruvolo Bigband (NYC). Currently, he teaches at Belle Arti Center of Performing Arts, and plays saxophone regularly with The Mercury Quartet, Ryan Brahms, and Charlie Sub.
